At Ilumbra we specialize in creating volumetric models of astronomical objects for display in planetariumss. These volumes can be used for interactive demonstrations in the dome, or in animations for application in a variety of situations including press releases, magazines, documentaries and others. You can find a sample of the objects we have created below. ** Please note that some models have been sold exclusively to certain vendors for full dome productions. Please inquire as to which models are available for this use.

For Planetariums:

Ilumbra volumetric models may be purchased by individual planetariums for inclusion into your projection software, or by digital planetarium manufacturers to be included in a release of your digital projection software for exhibition in planetarium domes. These models come with a complete package of electronic goods and services:

The volumetric model in our new ONE format (don't worry we will help you with this!).
Documentation of the model that contains a non-technical description of the object and, if available, a story for public outreach. In addition the documentation includes astronomical information on the model that help to integrate it into the virtual 3D landscape of the universe. Finally, a description on the scientific methods and literature the 3D model is based on and how it was constructed.
Technical support during the integration process of the model into the planetarium software.
Support regarding the observational and theoretical astrophysics of the real astronomical object.

Pricing:

For planetariums we offer the option to buy the use of each volumetric model through either a permanent or yearly license. The standard volume price for individual planetariums is €380/€80 (perm/yearly) (plus tax, if applicable) and for digital planetarium manufacturers is €3800/€760 (perm/yearly) (plus tax, if applicable).

A selection of our volumes have the potential for the nesting additional volumes within it. This greatly increases the effective resolution, and allows many volumes to be embedded into a landscape without loss of resolution. Each embedded/nested object is an additional €190/€40 (perm/yearly) for individual planetariums and €1900/€380 (perm/yearly) for digital planetarium manufacturers.

We apply an additional charge for those objects that are particularly complex and for which few spatial constraints exist from astrophysical observations and theory (e.g. most star formation regions). For relatively simple or generic objects we apply a discount. Please see the Volumes page for the exact pricing for the individual models.

For orders of 10 objects or more we apply a 10% bulk discount to the complete order. Please contact us for a detailed quote.
